Well the crank and block are off to the machine shop to get worked over. they are going to bore the block at .010 over and let me check it out and see if i want to go more. they are also going to clean the aluminum off the crank and see where it is at. they also offered me a job since they are hurting for machinists once they get the block cleaned up i will see what the valve train looks like. the valves were a little bit dished. the exhaust wiggled a little bit. i have not measured the guide ID yet but it may need some new guides just from the wiggle. while i was in the industrial area i stopped by the bearing shop and picked up 2 new SKF bearings, made in the good ol USA. $63 for both out the door. what is a good paint to do the block and tins? i was at autozone and they have VHT engine paint in flat, satin, and gloss black. it requires an oven cure which i have access to a heat treatment furnace to do it. its good to 550 degrees. They have header paint with ceramic that is good to 1200 degrees but has to be cured at like 600. i think that may be overkill and i dont know what temp these engines even run at. i just took out the engine rails and the PO had replaced the mounts. it looks like he used OEM mounts to me. i have to get a piece of steel to do the cradle mod. while i have easy access to the engine pan do you think it would be worth it to go ahead and throw heli-coils in the pan? i can install free running or self locking inserts for free. the threads look ok, but when i got it one bolt was missing and the other 3 were loose. i just took out the steering column too to go through it while there is easy access.

1979 1650, #1 tiller with one extension, 90 degree box mounted, 3 point. 1961 4 digit bringing back to life. I have the mower and 3 pint for it. The 1650 is the fastest mower in the neighborhood.
