I don't know of any. Once in a while you'll see one hit ebay. Otherwise, you can grab one of the other caps for a 122 or another model and it'll fit, just won't be the correct one.

Here are pictures of my 100's ignition switch and starter button from the front and from above. The ignition has a protective cover above and below the switch.

I have 2 different styles front grills out of the five 70/100s I own. Here is the style I have on my 3 Cub Cadets that run:

just bringing this one back from the dead...
On the topic of the two different headlight rings, what's the story here? On two of my 100's, my 122, and a 102 I recently had, they all had the 3-piece headlight rings (basically two identical pieces per headlight, with an inner ring inside one of the two). The inner ring looks like a way to fine-tune the direction each headlight points. Then I have a 124 with the 2-piece ring. Personally, I like the 3-piece design best. ...but, can anyone shed some light (no pun intended) on why/when IH did a design change on these? |

The first two pictures at the beginning of this thread show the two different styles if I am seeing it correctly. I have never saw the three piece rings on a 2/3 series, but easily could have been since they were a dealer installed item. Typically I see the 3 piece rings on early 100's with the big box, and 2 piece rings on the later 100's. when and why they officially changed I do not know...

hmmm..... interesting. So did any of these 'options' come with the cubs direct from the factory or were all of them shipped with no options, then options added at the dealer?
Either way, it would make sense that there are 'as purchased' (as opposed to 'factory installed') tractors that could very well have been optioned out from the dealer at the time of purchase, which may not be 'correct' to the factory specs (i.e. if a dealer had a set of 3-piece rings left in stock and someone ordered a 122, and wanted lights added, the dealer would just use what they had in stock). I was told that the 122 I picked up this past summer was purchased from the original owner (by a local small engine mechanic guy) and sold to me. ...and it's completely optioned out with everything including the rear PTO (everything except the hydro lift). ...and it's got the 3-piece headlight rings. idk, just trying to make sense of everything. ...and my late s/n 100 also has the 3-piece. Admittedly, it's very interesting to see just how many little nuances there are to all models and the various "changes" within a relatively short period of time, that all early models saw. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
