As long as the Pony Express gives the Pony's some oats you should have the drive shaft tomorrow. ![]()

got the drive shaft today, i guess they fed the pony's! i tore into the box and got it installed. took me about 15 minutes. perfect fit Sam. ill agree that the longer bolts were a good call. i like this style so much better. it will actually be very simple to change the rear belt now. 8 bolts in the shaft is out.

No problem, glad it all worked out.... I felt more comfortable with the longer bolts as well. I like the fact as well that it will be a lot less work to change the rear belt. I need to do the same for my 782D.
When the alternator bearings froze up on the 782D, the belt started squealing, but my son could not hear it because of the noise protecting headphones, and most PROBABLY because he had the radio built into them turned up. He kept running it until the belt shredded. I kept thinking as I was taking everything apart to change the belt that there has to be a better way. This is the way!

any one with a diesel should go this route. makes maintenance on the back side of the engine a lot easier..among all the other benefits.

When you get it all together and run it for a while I'd like to know if it is smoother than the OEM shaft. Keep us posted. You and FrankF3 are the only 2 guys that I know of with this drive shaft setup. If it works out it will be an easy retro fit for the rest of the Rag Joint guys with the Hydro's. Sam

^^ ok will do. i will say its much better then the old shaft already. with the old DS i couldn't keep the engine at WOT because the whole tractor would vibrate incredibly bad. with new DS, for the 3 minutes i had it running on jack stands it was very smooth even at WOT. so far i love it and the tractor hasn't moved an inch.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
