Of course, I have my own completely rusted junk project going with a QA thrower. Hope I make as quick of progress that you are on this one!
Rusted junk project! That's funny, and all too true here on my end! But, the more I look at this 1250, the more I realize that the chassis is not all that bad. I could use better side panels and the ever, so expensive nose piece that's broke on mine. Some where down the road, when my 72 project restoration is completed looking 200 x's better than my 71, I WILL paint a part or so here and there on this 1250.

As for now, I'm cleaning holes with WD-40, and my Dewalt with hole brushes. Making sure I have good grounds.

It is Daniel, a fun project! Does get me away from the headaches of the 72 restoration problems and work. So today I went dumpster diving through the scrap box we have at work. Came home with 9 different colored wire, all 5' in length free! Now I have my wire harness as I'm removing all the wire from the tractor and starting over.

There are things to do with this 1250. Sometimes I think that 24 hours in a day is way too short! Going to be on the 72 project this week too!

Also made my transmission rear cover plate gasket for free too, out of a empty 24 pack of Coke box!

That tractor is not that bad, I've had several where the fender pan rusts out there. It's usually from leaves and debris holding moisture.

I got a feeling you'll be getting some new side panels this weekend I'll send you a PM.

L8r,
Bob

That would be way cool Bob! Going over the Kohler K301 today as described in the Kohler Engine Service Manual, ie: cleaning and inspection of the engine.
Hopefully today I can tube the rear tires today too!

I will start a 1250 thread for any up-dates!

yap at ya later!

That nose piece is all over EBay for 20-30 dollars and some are even cast iron instead of aluminum.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
