Disassemble it, make sure the jet in the center where the bolt for the fuel bowl goes is clear of debris. Blow out all passages with compressed air. Buy a carb kit. Reassemble. Drain fuel tank. Flush with new gas. Clean the sediment bowl. Replace the fuel lines if it has been sitting for more than a year. |

I ended up just taking the carb off and taking it all apart. Cleaned a lot of carb and choke cleaner in it and that helped a lot. I also let the carb and the parts sit in gasoline to help clean it. I then show compressed air threw it to clean it all out. Put it back on and she starts up every time. Now my issue is my throttle isn't set right. It's like wide open all the time. How do you set the throttle. I also need to adjust the screws in the carb. Need help there as well. The clutch doesn't disengage so it's always going. I can't get it out of gear without turning it off and trying to force it. How do you adjust the clutch?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
