If all else fails, Gap the plugs @.023 and put a jumper battery on it to whirl it over faster and see if it will start.
If the coil is aftermkt.they don't like to fire when turning slow. worth a try to get you by till a better downtime can be planned. |

Out of the Kohler Mag Engine Manual Figure 6. Oil Filter and Optional Oil Sentry. Switch. Oil Sentry. Some engines are equipped with an optional Oil Sentry. oil pressure switch. If the oil pressure decreases below an acceptable level, the Oil Sentry. will either shut off the engine or activate a warning signal, depending on the application. Does the 2072 have this switch? If so..........Disconnect and see if you have spark...Pretty easy to eliminate that issue. |

My 1872 has an oil monitoring system. It turns on a warning light. That's what happened when the sendor went out.
After you have pulled the engine a couple of times it is really no big deal. An engine hoist helps a bunch. These old kohlors are heavy. Check my old threads for tons of pics that may help you. Just a quick reminder. MAKE SURE YOUR PTO IS TURNED OFF! |

The 2072 does NOT have a Oil Sentry. It has an Oil Light.

So its just a decal they put on the shroud?
Or is the M18 different than the M20 as far as configuration... I know when I had my Mag apart replacing the seals it had the oil sentry decal on top of the shroud along with the switch in the block..? Thanks |

Lots of good information on here... my tractor has the decal to but I'm going to assume that it is a light... I've read a bunch of posts saying I should pull the white kill wire... I don't see a plug to disconnect it? I see the three wire plug on top of the blower shroud... unplug this? There is also a 3 wire plug on the top left side of the motor that the white wire is included in... I've pulled this one apart and cranked the engine... no spark... let me know what else I can do... thanks again!!

Pull the engine and replace the mag. Sounds like you did everything to test it. It's not that bad of a job. Take some pics of the linkage to the carb so you know how it goes back together.
