My problem is they make way too much noise flopping around, It's really annoying. I'm considering either making them rigid or installing a piece of rubber/neoprene to cut out the noise.
Well you must need the patented Haban anti rattle device!

When you say deck carrier are you talking about the part that the idler pulley is mounted on and where it pins to the rear lift arms? If so that is very common and an easy fix.

Wood blocks? That's entirely too simple. I figured someone would have engineered something utilizing a couple of die springs.

Seriously, was this supposed to be some sort of "float"?

When I got my 2072 a few years back I was able to download a manual and print it out. I THINK it's in the shop somewhere. It wasn't really that helpful.

It works and it's cheap. Send me $50 and I send you a set.

I took a J bolt and hooked it around the rounded brace and drilled the flat stock below it to allow the threaded part to go through it and put a nut and lock washer on it to snug it all up.

Glad to know I'm not the only one annoyed by this design!

Has anyone else had trouble with getting this particular deck to lift high enough that the front gage wheels don't hit the ground when driving on a gravel farm road? I swear we mow faster than we drive to where we want to mow.

Darrell

Looks like you have it on the run. I hope to shoot some white on my deck today if it gets warm enough. It's supposed to be yellow but I like white better.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
