I tried dropping the coil down also, but still not enough room. I have plenty of fuel flow from the other side, so it may stay that way

Congrats on the 124
One tire I had to replace with a spare, and the other three are not in the best of condition either, but with tubes those three should be ok

This is what I did with mine.

Optimally I'd like the coil even lower, but someone switched out the flywheel tin from a 149 (or the whole engine at one time I suspect) so the coil was mounted higher and the fuel tank was reversed. It has worked this way for almost 3 years and I'm not complaining.

The one front tire on the 124 was so deformed that the only way I could get it to hold air was to screw the tire to the bead and put slim in it. Had the front rims been ih I would have tubed them but they are 6" rims with no bearings that look like there off a dump cart or something so I didnt feel to bad about puttin holes in the wheels

Todd,
Great find on the local (backyard) 125. Guess what you would get If you took my old 125 and combined it with your 125? Just an old tractor that still needed work! Some of them just need a lot of TLC still yours doesn't look as bad as the 147 that I brought back. You have a tractor that runs! Great pictures, Now I remember why I have not cut my beard I think I will go out and pull the 125 out of the weeds, I need another tractor to work on!
Regards,
Chris

Todd,
I couldn't take it any more! I yanked the 125 out of the junk pile with the Allis WD. Gave it a power washing. Put three tires on it. Rolled it across the drive to the garage and started checking it out. Pulled the head and it doesn't look too bad in there. It has a STD piston. May have gotten new rings by PO? Valves don't look too bad. It might run some day with lots of TLC. Need to pull engine as PO forgot to put on engine shroud.
Much work. Since it set out the hydro lever is rusted solid. That sucks cause this was a good working shifter. Started it on some blaster and will check every couple of hours.
Regards,
Chris

Sounds like we should be looking forward to a 125 resurrection thread! We'll have to call this week and compare notes

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
