Nice looking 125- very clean and un butchered from what I can tell. A 125 is my second favorite Cadet. I grew up with one. (that's me on dad's 125 in my avatar) I'm only 29 and I like the old machines.

Great info all and thanks for the warm welcome. Ran into my first issue today after a few hours trying to get familiar with the machine. I will search the archives here to see what I can see before I panic. :/

Welcome to OCC
You have a great all around tractor in the 125. Do the maintenance as suggested in the owners manual, (you did download the manual) and you'll br good to go.
What issue did you run into?

Was running fine. Now it putters out after a minute or 2. Starts right back up but only runs for a minute. Thinking a fuel problem? Has new spark plug and wire.

Welcome and congrats! I have had my 125 for going on four years now and the only major issue I have had is the pin and adapter on the back of the motor. Nothing more than routine maintance and you will love it!

Could be fuel, and could also be a bad condenser. I had the same thing happen, chased all the fuel sources, then tried the condenser on a whim and problem solved! Check fuel first, could be a pine partially blocked or the fuel cap not venting properly, or maybe some debris in the 90-degree bend by the carb. If none of those work, try the condenser. Good luck!

Just had a similar problem with my 147. Started right up, ran a bit and would stop. Took the fuel bowl off because there was dirt visible, thought there was dirt in the carb.......
Put it back together, same thing. Thought back to a similar thing happening with my 123. Someone told me it was a condenser issue. Changed condenser and all was good that time. Tried it on the 147, all is good.

Great! Thanks guys. Zippy, same thing for me. I saw the bowl was filthy, cleaned it and sprayed some carb cleaner up into the screen above it, no change. Some more details: This only seems to be occurring when the tractor is hot and has been running for a while. I will check out all the lines and then the condenser. I also will change the Hydro fluid this week. I had to order the gasket from my local dealer or else I would have done it yesterday. They had the filter in stock though, which is nice.
I pulled the plug on the back of the transfer case to see the condition of the oil - it looks....ok I guess. Level is good, doesn't look too chunky. The engine quitting happens with the tractor sitting still so I don't think a gummed up trans would be part of the problem anyways but - I want to change the fluid regardless. Also PTO on or off doesn't change anything.

A failing coil can also get hot and cause a no-spark issue. You might get yourself a decent set of gloves handy to pull the wire when its still HOT, stuff a bolt in the boot, and see if you get any spark during cranking.

In regard to your hydro fluid condition, you can't really see the chunkies the fluid until the pull the cover as they tend to hang out at the bottom. The level being up is a very good sign though! Low kills them faster than bad!
