Now that right there is damn funny! Hope you didn't need that one to dial the 911! That would have been ironic.

My reason for that thought is because I have a 7 hp cylinder head and the tin cover for it hanging on a nail on one of the floor joists in my basement, at a glance, it looks like the spark plug is partly over the piston. For some goofy reason I have the delusion that the piston is under the square end of the head. Might have something to do with a touch of dyslexia. Betsy would probably tell you it's because I look at everything bass ackward. And yes, that is funny as "heck".

I think i'm gaining ground on the flooding. I adjusted the new float and got her to fire a few times. still flooded but not near what it did before. They say set the float at 1 1/32. I don't know how to measure that so I made a guess. Anyways I think if I bring that tab up a bit it should be adequate.

Guessing is bad practice if you don't know.... educated guesses are good, if you know about the topic at hand. ![]() There is a nice picture of how to get that measurement in the Kohler Service Manual. Page 6.9. Also, that measurement is how far the float should hang. We are more concerned with it's "up" position, which is a different measurement. This is probably why you are still flooding. |

1-1/32" is the measurement in the dropped or down position (with the bowl removed). It is from the bottom of the carb (where the bowl fits into the grove) to the bottom of the float.
This is somewhat difficult to measure and I seldomly worry about this measurement, as long as the needle opens when the bowl level drops, all should be well. The closed or up position is more important, the book calls for 11/64" between the top of the float and the bottom of the carb, with the carb in an inverted position. I hardly ever actually measure this either, as long as the float is parallel with the bottom of the carb I'm happy with it.

I set mine like Sam. I set the float parallel with the bottom of the carb. Never had a problem yet!

Set float as suggested. No flooding. However found that spark plug was cracked
and broke completely in half with little pressure, will try a new plug.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
