Says he already had an offer for $1750. Guess he will regret not jumping on that. But then again I have seen stuff go for stupid money in the last couple hrs of the auction.

If it has yellowed the plastic is lexan which shouldn't be fragile, if it's acrylic then it is more likely to be fragile or break, but wouldn't yellow. Guessing early lexan, (polycarbonate) that stuff really yellowed fast, modern poly has uv coating on it.
Wouldn't think the original idea would be for a yellow background? But can't remember seeing one back then, just a guess but would say it's not older than 1970 - 75. Daulite has kicked out a ton of cookie cutter signs for national accounts over the years. Retail now to make if from scratch would to be around $2,500.00 but from Daulite because they made hundreds that size and used the same molds for the faces would be considerably less. Just my opinion, finally something I know a little about, been in the biz for almost 25 years. Vic |

Current bid $1427.56
Vic, I believe the yellow was on purpose. Seller claims it was for construction equipment sales, industrials were painted yellow, I assume it's a tie in. Interesting about the different types of plastic though. Bill |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
