Unless it's been run without an air filter, or severely overheated, that motor better not be bad with no more hours than that. It it does test low on compression, I'd pull the head and have a look see. You don't want to rebuild it..... you can almost buy new for the price. I've overhauled them before.

The injectors are going back in now. I will try to get a video when I'm done to show how it starts.

Here's a video showing what I get when I try to start it. I will do a compression check tomorrow night.

I am wondering if your glow plugs are not working properly. It sounds just like my 1512 on a cold start before firing up.

Yup, it always sound like it wants to. I've done the glow plug upgrade and starter upgrade. Also a new set of glow it's the other week. I took them all out and checked them all. They get HOT. Also did alternator upgrade. All filters and fluids are new as of the beginning of the season. My thought is it's got fuel and heat so must be low on compression. I will find out tomorrow.

They were hot wired direct to the battery and they are brand new.

I see what ur saying now about the jumper directally to the plugs. If u haven't had a chance to read through it check out my thread here.

Also if u don't have them, pick up some feeler gauges at harbor freight for the valve adjustment.

Thanks for the suggestions but my wiring is good. Original glow plug wire only triggers the ford starter solenoid. Glow plugs run thru that from the battery. I just need the compression tester because mine only goes to 300 psi and don't have the correct adaptor.

I can wire a standalone harness for a LS1 so I think I can manage a relay or two. Lol. Just bustin on ya.

I just called my local harbor frieght and they have 4 of those compression testers in stock. Hope to have an answer on my compression tomorrow afternoon.

The only way I can see the valve lash causing this problem is if the seats were worn and the valves were sunk in causing the lash to be zero and holding the valves open. If the lash was on the loose side I don't think that would hurt as much. Just might be alittle noisy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
