Actually what he is really doing is trying to stick it to this guy;

whose had this up for quite some time. You gotta remember, that's how we do it up here in the northeast! Every man for himself. Makes me wish I was still down there in Virginia, so does this winter, nice day today though.

LOL..... it kinda looks like it is. I exchanged some pleasant emails with him about his first ad.
Apparently he thinks yellow paint has gold in it.

It's probably the john Deer plow that goes with it that is driving the price up.

Leave the sap alone. It's like the rule here where you shouldn't comment in the trading post area unless your buying or selling.

Except it's a c-list idiot. The ad "calls me" to it......."Must email the idiot and make fun of him...." I hear it....

Cut the guy some slack. He lives on an island after all. Everyone knows that most goods and services cost more on the island.

He may, but just 2 years ago there were several nicer, unrestored narrow frame machines for sale on that same island, for far less. Including a great 123 with hydraulic lift for $400. But it seems now that RI cub owners are determined to rip someone off or wreck the hobby. It's quite often they're posted around here with 4 digit price tags. And they almost never have any options on them, either. A 125 for $1500 here, a 122 for $1200 there, a 782 for 1400, a 125 for 1000, a 147 for 2000, it's ridiculous. I'm just losing patience with it. bargains pop up every now and then, but I think they get snapped up, stripped of their goodies, and sold at 10x the price by these vultures. Funny thing is you can still find reasonable machines in both neighboring CT and MA.

I don't see the problem here. He's way off on his price but that's his business. It's certainly none of my business and he doesn't deserve to be harassed for it.

For the sake of argument here..... cause that's how I roll...

If this was a car, and the guy in the ad was running a used car lot..... no one here would have any issue ripping on him. We'd flag his ads and tell c-list it's a scam. We would tell all our friends not to buy from him. Some of us more bold people would even publicly rip on the owner of the lot in public when given the chance, as to how on earth he can justify his outrageous prices. I know I would. "Hey, there's Bob of Bob's used cars".... "Hey Bob, how the heck do you ever sell any cars with your outrageous prices?!?!?"

I see it for what it is. Far as I'm concerned, the guy is a rip off artist. Whether it's out of ignorance, stupidity or just plain greed, it doesn't matter to me. I'll rip on anyone like that given the chance. A con is a con, and they do nothing to help advance the hobby, just make it more difficult and drive local prices up. Someone here already posted that in RI it's getting harder to find good deals. It's a lawn tractor for Pete's sake. Even the most rare cubs completely restored aren't worth $4k. You guys can disagree with me if you want, but I'm not backing off. I will say, I quit e-mailing the guy. More just because it's hard to argue with stupid. Just not enough sense there to try to reason with. Happy Cub-ing boys.

See, I just don't think that way. I say if it's for sale it's anyone's business, and I don't think it's out of line to tell him his price is off. I'd tell anyone, anywhere, at any dealer, retail store..... whatever if their price was 10X what the going rate was. For crying out loud, he was asking $4000! Ten times what it's worth! Someone should say something. EVERYONE should tell him! Not yelling at you, Gary. I just respectfully disagree.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
