Today was a good day,got a new front seal for the pto end and installed it.Put the motor back in and fired it up.It runs and drives like a 350 hr machine.I am happy, now just need to fix a issue with the steering column and put the plastic back on.

Lew, couldn't you take that plate off to make room to have that piece welded back on like I did with my KT?
I know it's a different mount, but would be more stable.

Took the steering column out today and found a few chunks out of the steering gear,I had a bad column from an 1810,so I cut off what I needed and made a new stubby shaft.Filed down two flat spots in it and drilled a hole.Rebuilt it and will install tomorrow.
I had a JD one that had bad threads, but it was hollow. They make the races for the bearing a little beefier.

Lew you are Da Man! Why do I think the Cyclops are growing on you?

Seriously glad to see someone that has the ability saving them. You'll enjoy the 1641 when your done with it. They are very underrated.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
