Hmm I'd say 129, 128, 1812. the smaller K series are def better on gas, but the purr of the Mag twins is amazing. The 1x8/1x9 series are also the best looking Imo

I like my 782 a lot, and the 1861 is kind of nice to run, and the 86 is growing on me although I grabbed it just because it was an 86.
My answer- 782, 1811, and the 186x Cyclops series.

Just to broaden the 3 throughout the years I'd go with a 149 defeinately on the list, a 125/127, and a 782. Those would be the three best tractors I'd have to say. There might be a gear drive to put in there.

You have one of the best, a Cyclops with a mag engine and hopefully it has the cv driveline.
My next choice would be a 18xx. You can't beat an all metal machine with a good running gas hog magnum engine. I'm the odd ball on the last one... a 3000 series. Best engines, no maintenance driveline, foot controlled hydro, shaft driven attachments, best ever mowing decks and probably the tightest turning radius of any Cub ever built. +1 if you can get a 3205 or a 3208 with the water cooled Kawi engine.

From what I've read in this thread and other places, I'd have to agree with all 3 of your choices. My order would be 782, 149, 125, although the 1864 seems nice too. Now the fun part of trying to find one close by.

Yes, it has the cv driveline. I took it all apart last year and cleaned everything up real good and put it back in. I got this tractor from my Dad and he never greased the cv shaft or the steering box. Since I got it from my Dad and it's my first Cub, I'd like to retire it from grass cutting and just use it for the garden and other yard work requiring the use of implements in hopes of it living a lot longer by not mowing any more.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
