It's the metal one. These were made in the 60's when everything was metal, unlike today, everything is plastic.

Thanks Zippy That's what I thought, I figured the plastic one I saw listed was aftermarket but I wanted to be 100% sure. Its a throw away society anymore unfortunately nothing is made to last but to keep production and profit numbers up for the big companies.

I got a few more pieces in the mail today from Patton acres and the Cub Cadet warehouse my grille and emblem came. I managed to get the hood somewhat straightened out and the bird put on along with with the grille and emblem. It looks like a complete tractor now. Next is to find a seat or cutting the center out and welding in a new center, this one has been butchered and booger welded.

Good to see you're getting the parts to make it complete again.
Yeah, those seats seem to see some of the worst patch jobs, been there, done that... But they can be fixed.
Looking forward to the build.

You are getting there!

With a lot of time, patience, careful grinding and welding you can save that seat... but It may easier to hunt a better one to start with

Thanks for the update!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
