That is the Starter Solenoid. It was used to start the original KT-17 engine.

The 782 had some safety features built within the PTO Switch. If you put a simple on/off switch in place of it, you will be bypassing or eliminating these safety features. We can NOT advise you to do that.

Agreed I don't want to eliminate the seat switch. Could I simply wire that inline with the PTO? Who's actually running a reverse safety?

Another safety feature is, you can't start the engine with the PTO Switch in the "on" position.

I guess what I'm after is a complete rewire. I'm not against any safety feature, just want to wire it once and correctly. Trying to wire her anew, and blend in old components as well.

Since you are making (or using) a non-specified engine for that model of tractor, a custom wiring diagram and harness will be needed.

Oh that's right i remember that feature. Ok. Well I feel like I've got the command wiring all laid out. I need to figure out how to get the reverse relay tied in. I have the 2284 diagram that was posted here, but it's got so many things that my motor and tractor don't that I can't get my head around it.

I'm sure that someone has put a command into one of these and preserved all safety features. Any ideas on who?

There is another issue. The 782 had two different Wiring Diagrams. It depends on the Serial Number (age) range.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
