That would be wrong. It is a CCC built tractor and was part of the 1985 production run. Probably the last ones just before the 17xx series was introduced,

On tractordata.com..... If you click on the little box that shows "1979-1981" you will see an option to switch to the "1982-1985" model which are shown as being built by MTD

Mr. Bedell, you are correct. 79-81 IHC built, 83-85 CCC built.

That's just the way it goes sometimes, I hate to part them out but if I have a tractor worth x amount of dollars and nobody buys it or I only get low ball offers then what choice am i left with? I don't have room to keep them all and i don't buy them to lose money or break even. I have a 149 for sale right now that runs like a champ that's 100% ready to mow and has a beautiful deck on it and I keep getting text from guys offering $200 which is insane when I could part it out for double what Im asking.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
