Lol. I believe all of the above items are buried or lying on the ground I have to cover. Ok, I'm going to use steel replacement washers and hope they don't invalidate my warranty. Hehe!

I'm sure most cub owners probably are just using a flat washer in their place. Maybe that's the best I can do for now.
Other than providing some grip between the bottom of the spindle cup and the top of the blade, I don't see any other purpose.
I don't really think they provide any impact protection.
Newer stuff doesn't use them so what ever the thought was has been reconsidered.

That's interesting. I'm wondering how the outer diameter may fit. It may be worth ordering a pack of those. They're affordable! Thanks!

Larger o.d. won't hurt anything.
All they are doing is sitting sandwiched between the blade and the bottom of the spindle cup which is....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
