Good to know Matt, I hadn't even thought about the vibration effects on the drive line. Glad the other diesels rattle like mine at certain throttles. Mine does fine at very low idle just before the off position, and then on up at halfway through full.

For you fuel burners if you want to get around the low sulfer crap they call fuel just buy #2 heating oil from the heating oil guy. You'll also save some money.

When i'm using my diesel around the yard etc... I always make a point to stay away from that one vibration spot with the throttle. Hondo what a great find on that tractor. You'll love it.

Well I have a slight vibration...

Apparently this thing was used without one of those rag joints or flex disc on the drive shaft in the rear and the front one is torn.

Can anyone with the same tractor take a picture of the rear drive shaft connection so I can see what parts I need?

This might help. There's supposed to be 2 flex discs on each end.

Just going to throw my 2 cents in on the warm up issue. While I have never owned a Cub diesel, I will pass this along: I built hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders at Caterpillar for years. It is never recommended that a diesel motor is ever started and ran over idle. The engine will "clear" itself out as it warms up and start to idle smoother. Running over idle at start up risks damaging internal parts.

Is there any easy way to tell the 44A or 50A decks apart from the 44C or 50C decks?

Visual clues? I look at the operator manuals in the other forums and nothing jumped out at me.

44A/50A have a center pulley for a 3/8" belt, 44C/50C have a 5/8" pulley there. On the bracket welded to the front of the deck where the adjustable front links attach, there are 2 holes for the front links on an "A" deck and 3 on a "C".

Thanks for sharing your 2 cents. This is close to what I was told when I bought mine (used). I was told to not rev it up until the temp gauge is in the operating zone.

Would the mowing decks of either of these two work on mine?

I keep searching but its so darn hard to find model numbers/years etc. for these things.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
