No possible way this is just a facelift anymore!!

It is an awesome over the top restoration!! quit kidding yourself!

LOOKING AMAZING!! don't worry one second about the correct police! It's your tractor and should be how you want it

Appreciate the compliments Jay, but to me a "restoration" is as was from the factory, no wiggle room on the definition. That's every part, put back and detailed the way the machine left the factory the day it was born...
I know I don't have the means or desire to reproduce such a tractor so that's why I call it a "facelift" rather than a restoration that it's not
I used to hang around a guy who built cars for clients who were sticklers for originality, and saw what it took to build a 100 point "restoration". And after seeing the amount of work that goes into a vehicle to be consider a true restoration there's no way I can consider my stuff in that category.
If for the sake of this discussion I was to enter the Original in a garden tractor show and put it in the restored class. The judges would chew me up and spit me out Because it's not correct. "restored"

Restoration refers to the process of restoring a tractor to its original condition. Neither updating nor modifying are considered part of the restoration process. A restored tractor is one that has had all of its systems and/or parts restored to original condition. Selectively restoring parts or systems is referred to as refurbishing. It does not qualify as restoration.
A tractor that has had its tin work restored to as new condition but has undergone some modifications elsewhere is either a modified or a resto-mod tractor, neither being completely restored nor completely modified. If a tractor has had an engine swap for other than the original model, that tractor has not been restored. Although most of the parts are original, it qualifies as modified rather than restored.
There are many aspects to the process of a tractor restoration. The goal is to return the tractor to its 'original' state
I never use the word restored or take it lightly.
But thanks for your vote of confidence, it is greatly appreciated.

I have done several "facelifts" on some working Cub Cadets..... Or so I thought/called it.... after watching the great job you are doing I guess I just gave mine a shot of Botox!

Thanks for the play by play you are sharing, I have enjoyed following it!

I cant seem to get anything done lately on tractor related issues. In a slump I guess. Hope things are good in WI.

Chris

Thanks Dave and Chris
Got some more put together today, plus pulled a dumb move. Must be two people, because one can't be this stupid.
I forgot I needed a good ground for the tail light on the fender pan, so I took it back off and cleaned up a spot on the top of the differential and bottom of the pan. Good.
Then figured while I had the pan off I would drill the holes for the light bracket. Bad. Drilled the darn holes in the wrong location So now I need to blast the pan again, weld the holes shut and drill two new ones in the correct location and re-paint the pan... Boy does that stink

OK Todd....

You got me straight on definition of "Restored" and I agree!!

But it's still ALOT nicer than just a Facelift!

Some of my buddies think a restoration is blowing the dust off and rattle canning it!!

Maybe we should call it a restomod or "restification"

Either way... you do great work and I can tell you take pride in it.. That's all that matters!

Have fun and keep the pics coming!!

It looks great Todd!

Bummer about the fender pan. The bracket on the lift arm, do you connect anything to it? If so what? I don't have one of those brackets on my O, just curious.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
