Bummer about the fender pan. The bracket on the lift arm, do you connect anything to it? If so what? I don't have one of those brackets on my O, just curious.

Bill
Thanks,
The bracket is for a snowthrower, push blade lift rod. I may someday put a push blade on it, so thought might as well put one on now, rather than later.

Maybe we should call it a restomod or "restification"

Either way... you do great work and I can tell you take pride in it.. That's all that matters!

Have fun and keep the pics coming!!
Thanks Jay
I do "take pride" in doing things like this, but also don't want credit for a true restoration that it's not. Sometimes it's easy to throw the word out there without all the work that would go into a true restoration.
And obviously I don't know how to put them back together correctly the first time and I sure ain't having that much fun that I wanted to do it twice

Ah, I didn't think about a snowthrower. I have a push blade on mine and the lift bar mounts on the rock shaft under the tunnel and sticks through the opening above and right of the front axle out the front.

Call it what you want, resto mod, restification, but what you are doing and the quality of your work is outstanding!

And OBTW? Don't feel bad about making mistakes. Your not the lone ranger there!

I make them all the time, I just call them "engineering changes" now.

Makes them sound official.

That's going to be a beautiful Cub, definitely something to be proud of!

Sorry he gave you the bad news Todd.
Don't feel bad, I did the same thing and left it that way, sorry about the fender pan, but it looks great.

Default Restoration VS refresh or what ever you want to call it

I guess I would have to agree on the definition of restoration vs the other terms. But what do you call it when it is better and much nicer than brand new? Todd my friend, what you have done is above and beyond what care and condition that tractor had when it left the factory. As well built and designed as these tractors were, I doubt seriously any of them received the care and attention to detail the first time they were put together as yours has. Great Job man. You are an inspiration.

Todd I think my favorite part of your build is how you had all the bolts redone in the way they are. I've seen other guys on here use stainless, I've used the regular grade 8 gold ones but yours just looks the best as they are all still IH. Great job my friend, be proud of this one, lots of time in it but worth it.

Hope you didn't muck up the paint with foot rest brackets, luckily Lew debriefed me before assembly on my last 4 digit. I think he needs to be on speed dial when one gets done.

Thanks a lot guys We all do it (fix them, use them) because it's a passion/addiction, whatever it's called...
Here you go Lew, I fixed it right. Thanks for the heads up.
Does anyone have a "correct" picture of the tail light mounted on the fender pan? I've got the IH light diagram installation instructions but they are a drawing without the fenders. And I'm not so sure my original I took the lights off is correct.
edit. I "had" to use the washer. Didn't want it scratched.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
