ha - not being familiar with that model, I remember looking at your acquisition pics and I wondered what was up with that back strip. I thought they looked like fake tail lights.

So, I loaded up the cart with several loads of firewood for the wood stove and another two loads (not pictured) of cinder blocks for a bonfire ring. The 2186 handled it all very well, the Power Tracs are an awesome tire. Daughter Fayden loves Dads new Cub too

As far as what I did FOR the Cub today...

Wired in the quick adapter for the battery tender, tightened up and greased front axle, greased front end and wheel bearings, replaced balljoints, greased both steering zerks, re-greased spindles, idler shafts, and dual pulley. Lubed up deck lift linkage and FWD/REV shaft bushings. Installed E3 plugs, fuel filter, oil filter (Kohler xtra capacity) and put some synthetic oil in the engine. Topped off trans fluid. Did this over the past week to take care of the initial services at 170 hours. Even if it didn't NEED it, I did it, just to make sure. You just never know.... Only thing left is hydro filter, which PO said was done at the 100hr service interval.

At the end of the night (a few loads were hauled after dark), I had some free time while the wife and daughter went to town. Used that time wisely. Ripped off the cheapo "Series 2000" sticker along the back fender pan and drilled holes to mount LED tail lights! No pics of the lights yet...need to run a power feed for them, then they're ready to go. Really made the tractor look less cheap than it did with the sticker'd stripe and fake lights.

Nice Cub and cant wait to see the tail lights! If your not careful she just might start claiming it as hers!

Here they are! My old school phone doesn't take the best pics, but you can get the idea.

Those lights look good, sets off that back end nicely. Why didn't the factory do that, lol.

I agree guys, it really shoulda come like that from the factory. That glued-on stripe with fake red lights on either end really made it look chinsy. Now all I need is some sorta Cub logo in the middle of the rear fender pan.

(I was half tempted to put an IH logo back there, but that'd just be wrong, i know)

I had very weak reverse motion on my 1250 after I did the trunion repair. The manual check valves were frozen for along time and I knew it as the buttons on top could not be moved, even after a good soaking with Kroil.I orderd a set of the automatic valves from L J Fluid Power and put them in.I test ran the tractor and realised the potential this drive unit had all along while I thought it was operating good enough or so so.The reverse is very positive and powerfull now and the forward motion speed and torque were increased dramaticaly to the point of being dangerous at full throttle with the control lever pushed up to the max. lol

This tractor could be pushed around easily when not running because of the frozen valve plungers letting fluid by pass.Just thought I would share this because for me it was money well spent to correct the situation.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
