This hydro lever is different from my 1211. This one does not move quite as smoothly. It does not feel real tight. Just tighter than I am use to. It does go to neutral with no problem with brake pedal. It will hold in speed up and down hill. The handle stays put when put in a position. Not hard to move though an not overly tight either. When I get moving say half speed and go to slow down it literally makes the engine sound like when you down shift an automatic in a pick up truck. the engine RPMS come up slightly until it reaches the speed your trying to slow to. If I felt it was safe and would not hurt anything I wold just leave it. It really feels like "over powered" sort of. My son was like WHOOOAH DAD!!! you did a wheelie!!! COOOOOOLLL, lol.. not really cool when your doing wheelies at half throttle tho.

I just went out to garage and with the engine off the lever actually moved very freely. When running you feel what I think is normal resistance. Not sure how I missed this. Before but I see the fan is long gone off the shaft. Could years of running this way be what's causing my issue now from prior over heating? Either way I'll be doing some welding ... The safety switch lever is also gone lol. I've been hot wiring the coil to start it. I assumed the safety switch itself was bad and almost ordered one. Mine is good tho.

I don't know what to tell you. Check all the linkage out, see if everything is moving like it should. Make sure the cam plate and the swashplate control arm move independent of each other. You should see the springs compress when you move the dash lever and it starts to move. Might not be much, but the two plates should be free from each other. As far as the safety switch, just put a jumper wire in it for now until you get it fixed. Quit jumping the solenoid. Tape the switch on or something.... Go start a thread on it too. This is just supposed to be a "show and tell" thread, not a question thread. |

Woke up at 5am for no apparent reason on my day off, so I went out to the shop and decided to tinker with the O. I managed to get the clutch unstuck from sitting for too many years and the throttle cable almost completely unstuck as well. Also noticed it has a blown head gasket and leaking rear axle seals. At least I got the easy stuff done...

What did I do to my Cub? Hmmmm...Looked at it a few times, wishing that it was still in running condition. Wait..actually did a bit more...looked underneath and scraped away some grease and dirt so I could locate all 4 engine mounting bolts in case I decide to embark on the engine removal process. Looked over the whole engine and tried to envision myself both taking it out and putting a rebuilt one in all by my lonesome...not sure I quite fit into that picture or not yet.

Nice work! How much heavier per gallon is the beet juice than water?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
