The air filter on my 149 is my version of a heavy duty filter like they did on john deere back in this time period, its off a Kubota diesel engine , I then made a flange to bolt on the carb and a small radiator house to connect, was very simple to make actually and then a piece of conduit welded to the housing to support it. Oh darkminion do you recognize the amber tail light lenses ?

Default New Cub Owner

So my GF dad just gave me his old Cub Cadet. He said it was running just fine when he parked it last, but a rodent problem had taken care of the wiring. It's a fixer upper, but I am looking forward to it. I hope to take it to Tractor Day's first weekend in May in Oregon House, CA. Any and all information or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Im not sure yet of the year, but it appears to be a 1250 hydrostatic.

That's a great tractor. I grew up on a 1450.

Shouldn't take much to get it running. A wiring harness should be available from many of the parts suppliers on here. Or with a diagram and some time you could repair the one you have.

Ask and look around to see if he has the side covers stashed somewhere

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
