Thanks Jeff! I really appreciate that, and my wife does too! She said the only way she would wear a tractor T-shirt is if it had a tractor like mine on it.

ACecil,

Those pictures are great
Nothing like a relaxing ride around the yard to gather ones thoughts.

Took the 169 to the home place today. First time it has been there. You really can tell a difference, power wise with the 169 when you get up there in the hills and hollers.:biggrin2.gif:

Today I changed out the front axle. One picture shows the problem. I wanted to hit it with some paint, but too cold.

TEET,
The story goes that the spindle froze up. So the PO (Ten years old) started whacking on it to free it up. Then his dad took a torch to it and that's when it cracked. Father explained to son what was involved to fix it and he decided to sell it. That's when I got it. About two weeks ago.

Diz Jr.,

YES!!! Now I can move it withou killing myself. I parked it by pushing it and then picked up the front or rear to get it placed. After I put on the axle I drove it a bit. Clutch needs a total rebuild. I didn't run it too long because it was low on gas and the clutch belt needs replacing. But at least I can now move it. And I have to say, being old school, I love all the grease fittings. That is how they all should have stayed.

RPalmer,

Good deal, Its nice to have a spare axle isn't it! I figured it looked liked it had been wacked a few too many times

It's nice to find bargains with an easy fix:biggrin2.gif:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
