[QUOTE=jaynjeep;459464]Thanks Allen.. I had just agreed to buy this tractor a few weeks before your Red 982 came up for sale... I was kicking myself.. even thought about backing out and buying yours but didn't.. this one turned out to be a really nice well kept original tractor.. But I still really want a Red 982!
Anytime Jay! I really liked the 982, but I'll enjoy the diesel a lot more, when I get it!

Have been working on this O for a while and finally got it working just right and mowed some grass. Looks like this one sat since the 80s, all original IH belts, everything froze up, even had old school Prestolite battery with individual cell caps. Gotta say this, I’ve mowed with many cubs and different decks, triangle, 44c, 50c, haban, and I don’t know if it’s the light foot print combined with the timed blades but this little square deck cuts almost perfect. Reminds me of the old forest gump snapper I used to have with one big 28 inch blade, very impressed. Yeah I have a 60 haban and also a jd zero turn 54 inch but there’s something about just taking it slow.
P.S. also have to give thanks to my uncle for sending me some needed pieces for this project. 507F0F09-653F-4165-92E0-43B61602A8CB.jpg

Pulled the axle tubes off my O to replace seals. Discovered the drain plug is MIA. Interesting...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
