Well I titled my post as power steering on a budget, and IIRC I shot for 250.00 in parts. Well I went over by around 175.00 far as what I had to purchase during the build.
My total cost in all with every part accounted for is $498.39, however the parts I used are NLA from neither JD or CC, which makes them a little pricey. There were lots of 318's and quiet lines that have/ had the parts that I used, so they should be fairly common. Counting up my hours I would have to charge 400.00 in labor to cover my over head and make it worth my time. In all, with 498.00 in parts and 400.00 in labor, some one would have to want p.s. as bad as I did to spend 898.00 give or take some change!! Just figured that I would post this information for anyone thinking of doing a project like this, or wanting it pre made. Thanks for following the thread! |

Yep... That's gonna be cost prohibitive! Still way cool.

You are right if you had someone do it than WOW.lol
I don't think it's cost prohibitive if someone did it them self's, and looked for the parts to find them a little cheaper. Rescue11 kinda jumped the gun on a few purchases lol . I found my steering column for half what he paid, but I didn't need it as quick. Plus some of the other parts could of been found used and what not. I think it could be done for around $300.00, and that's not bad for a PS set-up. JMHO. That being said I love this it works frigging great. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
