You should set up a treadle with a wheel that big!
You could make parts by candle light when the powers out!

That's a cool saw Jeff, it will cut through anything......eventually. We had 2 of those in college and used them to cut across our welds to inspect them and make bend test specimans. Not much else will cut through 3/4" plates flux cored together or 1" plate submerged arc welded together. The worst part was that you had to sit there with a squirt bottle as it cut because they didn't have coolant hooked up.....twice to get a specimen. So painfully slow, easily an hr for two cuts.
For the record I was in college 10 years ago, not in the 30's or 40's like you would assume when looking at that saw. LoL Bill |

Yeah that's an awesome old saw Jeff. Does it have an oil pump or are you the oiler? That will definitely cut some drive shafts for sure.

It's missing the oil pump, it would be driven off the V belt on the flywheel side.

Nice equipment Jeff. At first scan of this thread it looks like you went on a shopping spree, but then I noticed the dates.
I hope to see some pics of that saw when you get it fixed up, and maybe a video of it running. Very cool!!

The machine looks great!!
With some creative clamping, you can do many of the functions of a milling machine. I have been VERY surprised by what my Jet 9x16 can shape. I have 30 and 60 degree angle adapters for the vise, MANY parts look professionally made with just an angle cut. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
