Jeff the inside of the tapered boss on the side of the frame is already threaded. Just buy a 2185 and we will do the conversion up in an afternoon. Well maybe a couple afternoons. hahaha

DX3 thanks having a working oil pressure is sweet. Really nice keeping track of whats going on inside the engine. Tomorrow I will adjust neutral on the trans, wire in the headlights and tail lights and start on some kind of muffler system.

Allen thanks for the compliments.

Looks great! Brings back memories of my working on my 582.

Something else I ought to mention...you many want to consider getting a mechanical fuel pump. Those vacuum ones quit if you are pulling the engine hard, and then the engine will starve for fuel. This doesn't happen with the mechanical pump.

Matt I will for sure look into it. Did not realize the Command motor had a provision for a mechanical fuel pump. Thanks Kelly

Yeah, it's a little different than the other models. CC switched to the mechanical pumps only at some point. It goes on the left side rocker arm cover, and is actuated by the intake valve on that side. There's a kit that has the new cover and all the parts. I think I got mine from Chris Westfall. The only problem I had is that the pump was touching the side panel, so I had to file some plastic on one of the ports and bend the lip of the side panel a bit. It later occurred to me I may not have had the grille far enough to the left, but I never got around to checking.

Depending on what you do with the tractor, you may never notice an issue with the vacuum one, but mowing up a hill with mine is how I discovered a problem.

Well the old girl is mechanically done. The exhaust didn't turn out to be that big of a problem after all. I reused the exhaust piping from the 2185. I got a couple muffler cans from a gravely tractor and adapted them. Sounds real sweet with true dual exhaust pipes on it. Waiting on a carb rebuild kit and a longer pto belt and this chapter in her life is closed. Now on to reassemble the 1204 I acquired from TEET last year. Will be using the kohler 12 I pulled out of the 682. Here's
a couple pics of the exhaust set up. I had to slant the one can for the pipe to match going through the grill.

Allen forgot to mention a set of V-61's will be on her in a couple weeks. Miller tire is going to be at the Pageant of Steam in 2 weeks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
