You don't really need that baffle in front of the battery...in my experience that just makes the tractor run hotter.

The progress is coming alot great. Keep the pics coming! I'm kinda curious on the rear end repair. My 782D I'm working on has the same repair (longer bolts with nuts). Will this hold up without problems with locktite and some sealer on the threads?

The mystery piece of sheet metal kinda looks like the heat shield for a 782 and the like.

Looking good, On the wiring at the rear end, Dont forget u have a seat safty switch and may b a pto option wire. As 4 the mystery sheet metal, the only thing on those tractors that even looks close would b around the fuel tank as a fender support. Maybe an air duct under by the engine insted of a screen. I have nothing on my 1572 that looks like that. Dave

Well, I made a major step yesterday.

Parts came from Patton Acres a few days ago, and I ordered some Kubota stuff from the local dealership, which came in.

Got the radiator and grill installed, bolted on the seat, and did some other small stuff.

I understand why you guys call them smokers now! Took it for the maiden drive, and everything works like a charm. You can feel that power for sure! Can't wait to mow or plow with it.

I have two questions though:
1. When I hit the clutch, the tractor wants to back up slowly. Can this be related to the brakes in any way? One side of the brakes is worn so much that it will not stop the wheel, while the other side will.

2. What holds the radiator, other than the single top bolt to the grille frame? I understand that radiators aren't rigidly mounted (so they can float), but is that bolt the only thing?

The attached pics show the current status. There is still a lot of work to be done though, mainly in fixing a large amount of bad wiring. I will keep you guys posted on the progress.

Thanks all for your help, I am very happy so far.
Thanks for the update! Sounds like you'll have to adjust the brake linkage. Here's a guide on how to reline your brake pads from the tech section of the site. Looking forward to your updates!

Nice progress on the 1772.

On my 782D, there were also two bolts coming from under the frame screwing into the radiator. PITA to get out due to rust, ! Never had the rad out of my 1772, but should be the same as the 782D.

Sounds like you also need to adjust your hydro linkages as well. The clutch pedal is hooked up to the hydro linkages and may be tugging it slightly into reverse when depressed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
