I always liked the lines of the 82 series and the color RED myself, mostly Bigger Stuff. Most people never get to see Big Stuff side by side untill now! IH 982, WH D-250, CCC 2284 Enjoy!

turned my attention to the rear fender/battery box section of the 682 tonight. this thing looked like the fender had a good whack from the rear pushing the fender forward bending the battery holder/fender support. pulled the fender and investigated. from the pics below you can see how out of shape it was.
spent a good hour on the fender as well . lots of bent edges from rough handling, looks so much straighter now.....
the battery tray piece is ok for now, but i need to get a better one or cut out the bottom and replace with new metal as its close to paper thin....

a couple of questions.....
first, the ignition switch, is it in the right location on my tractor? what is the hole to the right?
and second, does the fender look right here around the driveshaft cover plate? i think everything is where its supposed to be now, just wondering about the gap. i realize the cover is a little beaten like somebody laid into it with a hammer or something but not sure how this looks compared to some of the 'unbent' tractors out there......

Your key switch is in the correct place, but I don't know about the other hole My 982 doesn't have that hole. The tunnel cover gap looks about normal to me.

The other hole is for the rear PTO switch on the 982 series
