Todd,
This a very long shot. (may be way old news)
Did some very limited research on the JD (green site) and found a possible source for repair of your cylinder.
Try emailing this guy Bill Robinson

Regards,
Chris

So far I've got all the small things done, wire wheeled and primed and painted.
Next week I'll get the blade and mount sand blasted and ready for paint. Here's a couple pictures of the progress thus far.
Also I need to know something about the cylinder. It does have a small leak on the end, so.... Has anyone ever had one of these rebuilt? The packing needs to be replaced, so the end needs to be cut off and re-packed then welded back together. Has anyone done this, or had it done?
Thanks
Blade parts are looking good, Todd!

Did anyone ever rebuild one of these?
I'm sure mine isn't the only one that ever leaked

Got the blade, main frame and pivot frame and springs sand blasted yesterday, and primed today.
Hopefully get it wet sanded and painted tomorrow.
Nice and warm in the shop for painting

Will do. Thanks Sam
I have a place in Green Bay that used to do the cylinders for our dozers, I'm checking there on Thursday. And if it doesn't pan out I'll try cubs-n-bxrs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
