I will be happy to get you that info but tonite, the thrower and I aren't on talking on terms. I was cleaning up some sidewalks at work today and as I've found before, this weather has made several sidewalks heave pretty bad. Well...I found another one today. I hit it so hard (was cruising at almost full speed with the thrower apparently not all the way up) that when it caught, I almost got knocked out of the seat. Anywho, it knocked the thrower a bit off of the quick attach mounts so I've got some work to do and when I do it, I'll get the info.

Long story short, yes I'll get you the length but not tonite

BTW, I didn't mean to jack this thread!

Get your working first and then if you have time, get measurements.

Sudden stops can really hurt

my QA42 A looks just like that , think my problem is that the adjuster is a little worn , its 35-40 years old and it just works loose. thinking of fabing something to hold the t handle in place so the belt will stay tight. Any body ever done this . thought I seen once where a guy drilled a hole thru the t-handle attached a short chain to the t-handle the bolted the other end of the chain to the blower mount. thoughts on this?

Rob, Do this....drill and tap a 1/4" hole near enough to the adjuster handle so that a 1/4" bolt threaded into o=it will catch the handle should it try to back off. Add a jam nut so you don't loose the bolt.

If you need to re adjust, just back off the jam nut, unscrew the bolt and adjust.

that IS reverse thread and that castle nut makes sense because there is a hole for it which is not the case with the adjuster I have. I'm starting to think I got a little hosed on this snow thrower from craigslist. The belt I was given was too big, the lifting rod was too short. now this...

Just a thought, looking forward to seeing what comes out of your shop!

I like the idea of being able to put a wrench or socket on it to adjust. In fact, on one of the ones I have the PO welded a large nut to the adjuster wing - just throw a socket on it and can turn it to however tight you want.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
