I could see if it was a tag for a deck or something like that (and some of those are deck tags) and you was restoring, but needed a good tag for it. I've had engines that I wish had a better looking tag on them, obviously of the same make and model. However, I don't think those tags are of any real quality for a restoration.

I think the point he was at was that if one of those tags was for say, a 169, or an 800 or something, you could "build your own". Cool to hang on the wall, or a plaque or something, but not really worth much, your right. Not really "restoration quality".

I have 2 tags off the last 2 decks I sandblasted. I was going to rivet them back on but maybe I can get rich if I sell them LMAO.

What is the sellers deception?

There is the possibility of a buyer using them to deceive.

Good point, but why else would someone use a tractor tag that does not belong on any other but the original it came from. I can see using deck and implement tags since they are not specific to each other. To me its the same thing selling or using a serial no. that is original to one item.

Hmmmmm...

I lost the tag off my 38A deck, but I am not going to replace it.

Saw this and remembered this post. The seller even encourages it, but my thoughts went right to a resto with a clean tag (with a few minor scratches). Going to list this in the Flea-Bay Deals, as well.

E-Bay is clearly the reason our tractors and parts prices are rising. It's nice to want, but the sad truth is..... someone will probably pay it.
WOW,$1500 put into it and it looks like that ? For that price he could have had everything restored from ground up and a new paint job.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
