You will like that 149, did you get the long tube that connects to the rear hitch for the sickle?
Those are always MIA.
I got the long tube but the hangers for the front axle are missing and the part the bolts to the rear hitch that the tube fits in is also missing. I'll have to make that stuff. Plan is to stick it under my 1641 so I doubt that the 149 hardware would fit anyway. Also need to dig up a clutch with the small pulley to fit the Vanguard.

Just a suggestion, but why not just put a wider and smaller pulley on the sickle? Cheaper than a clutch and way easier. Then if you want to put a deck back on the 1641, it will be ready to go. A sickle mower isn't picky like a rotary mower. It really doesn't matter how fast it runs, just changes your ground speed. Faster the sickle drives, the faster you can push it. (To a point.)

Jon

The 149 has the small PTO pulley so if I went with the large PTO I'd need a larger pulley on the sickle. I don't have a PTO on the 1641 so just figured I'd look for one with a 4-1/2" to 5" pulley. Plan is that the 149 will be the tiller, the 1641 the sickle mower and the 71 can pull the plow or cultivator.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
