Is that just an illusion or is one side of the front of that pulley worn away (not as thick on one side as it is on the other)?

Lighting/background change. I just don't think it's damaged. I shot these pics pointing both ways, the lip/ridge is fully intact.

Looks like you have the extra thick friction disc.
Maybe you could try it with a regular FD just for giggles?

How are you using the gage? The points go down between the slots in the fingers.

I do not know why but the engagement lever with the rod in it looks really high/long.
If it was longer, you would not be able to move the thrust button enough to operate the pto properly.


I can't imagine you changed that out or altered it.

Do you have a set of calipers or micrometer that you could measure the friction disc and everything else with? And if so, does anyone know the specs. off the top of their head?

Saturn it looks to me, and I might be wrong, that the hub pulley you have is the hold up. It looks like the finger plates are hitting/bottoming out on the nubs that are sticking out of the front of the hub. That hub just doesn't look right, should have circular almost dowels that stick out that are equally spaced on the WF hub. Again I could be wrong but it seems that hub is not letting the fingers depress enough to disengage pto

The latest version of a mechanical pto has the "end of a mailbox" shape dowels, nubs or whatever they are called.
As Alvy mentioned, I think he is referring to the red circle area.
It looks like the finger is on top of a nub at least that one.
Maybe optical illusion?
Is the paint scrape in blue where that arm hits the cast iron grill support?
