5 years since the last post on this thread, but I've been studying it and using part numbers listed here to order repair parts to fix leaks on my 3240. Thank you!

I'm glad it has helped you. Now I need to find another 3240.

What a great reference thread. I just purchased a 3240 myself. Thanks for documenting this!

BTW, any chance of a guy getting another set of those decals?

Haha, nice. I thought I was the only one to use the same screen name across forums. Welcome! I also have a love for the 3240 now that I've made several fixes mentioned in this thread.

Thanks, I don't think the guy I got mine from has anymore and he has not been on any of the sites. I've had a bunch of people ask me for the decals and if I could (or knew how to) I would get several sets made. I'm still looking for another 3240.

I'm located near Johnstown, Pa. I can get any decals graphics duplicated at a local graphic design shop as long as I have an old graphic in half decent shape. Check your local listings.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
