The next project is to do the original hood. I need to weld in the cross-bar, strip, prime, paint and decal it plus the front grill and headlight area.

I striped the hood and headlight surround. Welded in the cross bar to the hood. Shot a coat of primer to keep it from rusting. Next step is sand and shoot it with IH white after I figure out how my new spray gun works.

Nice work Zimm. What gun did you recently get? I got the Mac daddy harbor freight gun for Christmas and for the little I paint I think it works great.

Husky hvlp gun from Home Depot. After all I'm not shooting urethane for a car, just enamel. Harbor was highly recommended but 45 min drive from me.
Through the primer I can see every bump of old paint and rust pit. I'm going to try my orbital sander and take it down to bare metal and bondo the rust pits and try primer again.

Yeah same deal I've run into. I have now subscribed to blasting every piece down to the nub because of that. Time consuming and pricey but worth my sanity when it's done. On the last couple I've done I've been too anxious to get it done and regretted not taking more time to get it right but man it takes hours of prep on these old panels, wow. Although body guys on here use epoxy primer too which is what I'm using on my O but haven't sprayed yet, I'm using Omni by PPG. Definately going to need some advice when my day comes.
Keep up your detailed thread I like it

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
