Rubber boots. Just like car CV joint boots. Zip tie holds them on.

Well, I got engine belt replaced and the CV joints cleaned, re lubricated and the driveshaft installed. Despite the lubrication being dry to the point of being non functional, I found no wear in the joints. That captured belt replacement is a real PIA. I almost installed and secured another belt around the driveshaft which wuld make it a much easier job next time. I installed a quality belt so perhaps it will last as long as the one I removed. I did not remove it but I believe removal of the hydraulic filter would make the driveshaft job much easier.
So now, she sits on the rear two awaiting the brown truck to bring axle spindle bushings and a pair of wheel bearings. ![]() And in the meantime, I am out cleaning up from our ice storm of a couplel weeks back. Thankful for the green tractor and FEL. |

Glad you got it done. Yep the belt is a PITA. Water pump is even worse, ask me how I know.

Side panels are NLA. Check with member Andy2182, he had some made last year. They are the same as the other Cyclops except for the cut out for the muffler and the cooling slots.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
