I texted him and asked if he'd take $50 and deliver it to me.
He responded:
"Are you out of your F'n mind? I have an offer of $750!"

I then asked him if it ran.

He responded"
"lol, if it did it wouldn't be that price. Waste someone else's time. You obviously have no knowledge."
Me: " do you have knowledge?"
Him: "goodbye"
me: "the ad says to make an offer, that's what I did."
him:yes. an offer. you're ridiculous. con someone else."
me: "you're the con."
him: "lol"
me: " ok, I did"
him: "not a con. however we do have a place in baton rouge. good to know."
me: "great, we summer near Ithaca"
him: "even better. then you know how absolutely ridiculous you are."
me: "Great! so $25 and you will bring it to me. You're the best!"

Just tried to call S--t for brains, told him to call tomorrow. Figure I'll tell him it's worth about $8000 in running condition with all the correct parts. Let him go nuts trying to find what he doesn't have. God I can be an evil person....

That stinks Martin. However the next deal that comes your way will be the opposite and the person will be a good one, that's how it works. I just picked up a loaded 122 and the guy agreed on a price with me, I lined up a time for almost a week later, was sweating it but I got there and he told me how many people had called after me and offered way more, he said no way, there's something called karma. I later realized he had the "f cancer" bumper sticker and it made sense. I told him I appreciated his word and he appreciated mine for coming when I said and a 2 hour drive one way to boot. I agree with Lews method to ask to take it down although this didn't apply to you but yeah, I would show up with the agreed price in hand. It's crazy and sad sometimes with Jabrones like that, you have to literally drop what you're doing and go right when they ask on the phone, "so when can you come?" Answer..........now.

First, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get it. It sucks, I've been there.

Here's my opinion...

I hate to say it, but next time you will know.. People talk...and we aren't the only people that look at craigslist! Honestly the last thing I would have done was post something I REALLY wanted on a world wide website of Cubs that you were going to get a deal on, especially in your parts....unless it was in the back of your truck on the way home. The northeast has some really nice Cub stuff...and a lot of collectors with really nice collections. Like it has been said, he was tipped off by some jerk who thought he was doing everyone a favor. If the ad said $250 the first time, that's a darn good clue that you aren't the only one blowing up his phone. I've had it happen dozens of times on Cub Cadet items. Just have to remember there will be more, take the high road and move on...(even though its hard).

Again, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
