It was done right, for what it was going to be used for in the first place.

You don't have to repaint your engine on our account. Heck, it's your tractor and you can paint it pink for that matter. I did not mean to be critical, so my apology if that is the way I came across. I just said I didn't dig the colors you selected. That's a lot of time and you did do a nice job painting it up. Who am I to blow against the wind?

And I for sure was/am not being critical. Just having a bit of fun. I'm a "do it my way" guy, and applaud folks making the manufactured products, custom for the user. Don't believe it? Look at the custom combination hitch on the 782, in my avatar. Keep up the good work. These old tractors deserve it.

I LIKE the paint job. It was well done and you aren't trying to fool anyone by saying its original. If it were mine I'd focus on turning wrenches and not a paint gun. But that's just me.

Actuality after some thought I'm just going to leave it for now. I could relay care less what color the engine is, I just want it running.

Don't feel bad , I'm putting the 102 back together and right at the end have made a few mistakes like that. I had to drop the starter to get pto clutch rod on, and when I did, noticed I never TIGHTENED the bracket your talking about!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
