One more thing.....
I have a cousin stationed in S. Korea. My youngest bro talked to him not too many days ago and he said that the news media is really blowing the situation out of proportion. He is pretty near the border, and says tensions are not as high as the news makes them out to be. He's been there on different tours, and says it's been more tense in the past than now.

When I was in grade school in the '70s, my family had a house with an attached subterranean bomb shelter accessible from the basement. It was a small 8 foot square room built with concrete blocks for walls with an reinforced slab for ceiling. Only one steel entry door. It had an hand cranked air handler. A single light bulb, caged. The days of Cuban missile crisis was long gone, but the Iron Curtain was still going strong. But we never stored provisions in that room. All we did was kept junk in it. If we still had that house today, that bomb shelter would make a terrific wine cellar.

I'm also sure the situation was cooled a bit after THAAD arrived. However, there is no doubt the NK leader is a nut job, and has threatened to bomb everyone. We all felt the military display of power, as if they worship those weapons. Sick bunch I tell ya.

No.... I'm not, and your still crazy.

1986..... 1986!!! Really?? It was the beginning of the Cold War and Mikhail Gorbachev was the president of the still then USSR. The Iron Curtain was still up, and we were at odds with the Soviets. In 1986 the Berlin wall was still up...... China was nothing, and who gives a crap what the Soviets didn't actually do in 1986???

If you recall, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor..... now we're allies.

60 Minuets.... LMFAO. I don't know why you want a bomb shelter. You apparently already live under a rock. Just let it go man. No one is going to drop a bomb on you in Kansas City, Missouri.

86 was not the beginning of the cold war, that was more like 56. Ya, no bombs on KC. I'm sure some are rooting for Oblong tho.

More like 1947.... I didn't word that well. I was referring to the period of time that happened between '85 and '91. Gorbachev was rising to power, Reagan was trying to convince them to end the arms race. Lots of turmoil while Gorbachev was trying to reform the country. Lots of things started to change during that time, and there was lots of people who didn't necessarily like it. It was the beginning of the reformation and the beginning of the end of the Cold War.

As far as Oblong is concerned.... we have an oil refinery 15 miles away. We (our county) used to be listed as one the the top 10 places that were likely to be hit in the event of an "attack". I'm sure that really disappoints some of you.

Jonathan, I have no ill will towards you or anyone in our fine country. I'm just pointing out the fact you should try to be a little nicer to fellow Cubbies who may not be as mechanically inclined as you or I. What may be as simple as scratching our arse to you or I may be rocket science to someone else just trying to mow the grass.

I appreciate that Travis, but what does that have to do with building a bomb shelter? We're not talking about making any repairs here....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
