Two things about that ad:
What deck is that? Looks like a 38” triangle but I’ve never seen that discharge chute on one before. Secondly it says “3 speed peerless” rear end, but it looks to be a 3 speed IH derived rear end. Did they market them as peerless or have peerless bud them or something?

My future 1282 project will probably have an IH logo. I know it'll be incorrect, but it'll be close enough.

I would think the first step to buying a 1282 would be to send the guy selling it a pm.

Interesting that the ad also lists throttle, choke, and ignition as “deluxe features”. I’d consider those to be rather basic features. |

I'm not sure why it states a Peerless trans. It's not. But CCC was known to make a lot of mistakes in their marketing ads because they usually were making up marketing posters and such before the tractor even went into production. That's likely the case here. Perhaps the original design was a Peerless transaxle, but was switched to the IH style before full production. |

Peerless was used in the same platform on the 1204 and maybe the brochure was modified but they forgot to delete that, who knows.

All 1282s had the IH logo.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
