The original linings were pretty thin.. 3/16" is for sure gonna be too thick.. Last set I did on a 1450 I had to sand them a bit with a belt sander to get them to work out.. seems like I used 1/8" linings but I don't remember now.. just be careful if you sand them.. wear some type of respirator.. some brake lining material has nasty stuff in it that you don't need to breathe!

Just got this 72. From the serial number it's a 1968. Has a 1971 K241. Looking to replace the straight pipe soon.

Lawn Ready!
It's been a few years since I restored my '73 149 for snow duty. We moved to Miami and it was sitting in my dad's shed. Well over Christmas I "rescued" her, threw on the 44" deck and put her to work on my 1/4 acre of super dense southern florida lawn. She's way too big for the yard, but it sure is fun to run the hydros, scalp the grass, and make a lot of noise!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
