not just today but the last few
Well, my son and I worked on our cubs the last few days and got them both running. Both were barn finds and not running. Mine is a 105 and was in pieces his is a 1650. His was complete but not able to turn the motor over by hand. He soaked it for a day or two with some oil and it freed right up. We both thought that was a good sign. He got it running but it was making noise. Before he could shut it down it threw the rod. Damage was mineable and he already has the machine shop working on it. The 105 is together and I put in new points, condenser, coil,Plug and wire. I did rebuild the carb with new Kohler parts. It started right up but ran a little rough. A quick search on here and I adjusted the timing and now it purrs like a kitten.
It drives real well and must say I am hooked on these little tractors. I made a list of what I need to finish and have started buying them from the sponsors of this site. I have done tons of reading on this forum and have learned so much. I plan on taking lots of pictures of the rebuild and post them up. I really haven't even started to work on this one and find myself looking to get an original. I think I might have a problem! |

How heavy is that sucker?? I get highs and lows in the yard in the spring time. Was thinking a roller like that might help!

I mowed with the 125 yesterday. After I got done my wife asked if there was any way the cub could stripe a yard. Not that my yard is all that big, or nice, but she likes the way it looks. So I spent this afternoon building this contraption. It seems to work ok. Can’t really tell since I mowed yesterday. The threaded rod is definitely to weak. Need to replace with a piece of round stock .

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
