Learn something new EVERYDAY!
Went shooting this past week-end & now I gotta clean dem'weapons.
308, 223, 22, & 2-45's.  Oh its sometimes hard to teach an ole'dog new tricks. But for all those that find cleaning a rifle, shotgun, pistol, even black-powder, a chore this is the way to go. I was at a gun show 2 weeks ago, & thought i'd pass on some new fandangle method of cleaning your weapons. Well new to me. Guy was giving a demo. Now I'm sold on it. Wish I would have listened to a young whiper-snapper 10 years ago. Try it, ONLY WAY TO GO! Nik,

I've been using Boresnakes for years and agree, for the most part.
I always run at least a few patches before I use the bore snake. Usually I run the brush a few times too. It keeps the bore snake MUCH cleaner and the snakes themselves aren't really friendly to clean (I just thought about trying the dishwasher on them). At the end of the day its a re-usable patch/brush combo that works MUCH better but they do get dirty with use. Also, NEVER use a bore snake if you're running corrosive ammo without a "pretty decent" cleaning first with some patches (my usual MO anyhow) and solvent rated for corrosive ammo. The snake can hold on to the salts in the primers and spread the corrosion to your other equipment. Personally, I don't use them at all for corrosive cleaning. Throw away patches only.
