Man do I know how that goes. It's only X amount for this and that and then you add it all up.......... BTDT. If you need or want a Vanguard 16HP I have one out of a Cub that I just fixed up and got running. If I'm smart I'll sell the engine rather that start another project. LMAO

went "picking" in my pile, found a muffler, an air cleaner, gas tank, wide front wheels and tires, brake pads, a QL front grill casting and nose piece. No ignition switch, however, the one on the 147 parts tractor was trash.
Need a pair of iso mount rails and a hood. Will put an ad in the wanted section.

Went on ebay and bought an ignition switch, and tunnel cover. Slowly accumulating parts...hoods are $100 or more with shipping! Yikes!

Picked up the hydro today, steering column and gear, steering wheel, and a driveshaft. I think I can start putting this puppy together. Need to do some cleaning of the frame, look at what needs primer/paint. Pics to follow.

Some pics of the replacement hydro unit (pretty dirty, I must say) before and after some cleaning. The trunnion is badly worn, so I took the trunnion from the damaged hydro and did the repair using the replacement part. some of the other parts I've got lined up, including the rebuilt engine. I ordered seals and gaskets for the hydro. I plan to open it to check it out, do any cleaning, replace the trunnion arm and reassemble. And, finally, the chassis as it sits. Note: I put the blue paper towel under the trunnion for picture clarity.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
