Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking I'd move the fuel filter to the other side of the firewall as well. I do like the way your ducting captures all the hot air and directs it out. Definitely running with the left side cover off for now to keep an eye on that line.

Took Sam Mac's advice and rerouted the fuel filter; not sure why I didn't do this before. It works way better!

Some nice scorch marks left on the air filter plastic but looking good.

Time to test this toy out. New thread in implements section

Just came across this thread while browsing some less frequented areas of the forum. All I can say is impressive work! Seems like that engine is a perfect fit for that tractor. Kind of looks like a melding of old IH Iron with new tech, and the results are astounding. Great work!

Question for you; have you thought about relocating the fuel tank to the rear of the tractor, and the battery under the hood? Perhaps a set of Cyclops fenders on the rear (with the black fender flares, of course) with a rear mounted tank, and the battery under the hood would give it a more well rounded look (of course, that is just a thought. Please don't take offense to it. You're machine looks amazing as is!). Keep up the good work, I look forward to more pics

Just like Ryan, I just found this thread. Was wondering about the tractor while checking out the blade in the implement section. Nice job! Glad to see the fire wasn't any worse than that. Great job on the build!

It's funny you mention the rear mounted fuel tank. I had been toying with the idea and wondering how easy it would be to adapt. Maybe if a parts Cub with a rear tank shows up around my area I'll think more seriously about it. For now I'm just going to enjoy it. Thanks!

Thanks! I am very glad the fire wasn't worse. Call me paranoid, but I've seen enough fires on vehicles for me to do this:

Not that I think a fire will happen again but I've put way too much time an effort in to this tractor for anything to happen. My gf called it the tractor's 'safety backpack', lol. It fits nice and snug behind the seat and isn't noticeable enough to make me look like a crazy person.

If your going to use Cyclops fenders and fuel tank it will need to come from a Super. The fender support and fenders are different to accommodate the larger rear tires. Parts from any of these would work. 1882, 2086, 2082, 2182, 2084, 2284

wouldn't a fuel tank from a Cub Cadet Super Diesel work? like a 1572 or 1772? i thought that those were underneath the seat as well...that way you can keep the stock fenders too.

Prolly would with a few mods. Heck, any diesel tank, 782D/882/1512/etc. would work. They are all the same. Problem is, they are like hen's teeth to find. IIRC, someone on here used a gas tank from a 1210 or 1641 (guessing here, can't remember exact model #) in a diesel. Had to add a return line hole in it and such, but it worked??

Problem is, if I found any of those they better be in pretty bad shape or else I'd probably want to fix them before parting them, lol.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
