I didn't get to work on the 2072 this week, to many other things to do. Maybe next week. However I sold the 2284 and kept the 3pt hitch so the 2072 will be getting the Xtrememotorworks 3pt I bought last fall. Not to get off topic but we can blame Cub Cadet and MTD all we want for building cheaper tractors but ultimately the blame is on us(society in general). Most people would not pay the price for quality so companies are going build what the majority will buy and that is price driven not quality driven.

Sam did you try to find brass hose adapter that would screw directly in without drilling and tapping? I could do that with out draining the fluid.

You have to drill through the housing and tap it. Cover has to come off so you can catch the chips when you drill & tap it. The bolt hole doesn't go through the casting. The adapter is 1/8" X insert, I had it from some other project but you should be able to get one at a Home Cheapo or any plumbing supply.

Default Update on the 2072 progress

Well Im down to pretty much a bare frame. I have the power steering cylinder resprayed black. I pulled the dash and resprayed the lift cylinder and the metal on the dash black. I have been cleaning the bare metal pieces and spraying them with clear. The rear end is out and Ill get it cleaned and resprayed black.Since this is a resto mod my daughter and I have decided to make a 982 clone tractor with a few personal touches. We are thinking we will call it the 982 G. We are also thinking about having a decal set made to say 982G, since the BRS diesel says 982D, just for fun. I bought enough IH red to get everything sprayed once its prepped. Here are a few pictures.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
